Admiral Nascetti invites delegate attendance for MAST 2007

Dear Delegates,

Selecting Genoa city as the venue for MAST 2007 was not hard!
It’s a maritime town by long historical tradition, since the Middle Ages:
Even today, the symbol of Genoa remains on the “bow flag” of the
Italian Navy (along with the other three ancient Republics that made
Italian naval history over the centuries).

As Italy’s largest commercial and naval port, Genoa is home to certain
defence industries and headquarters of the most important Italian
shipbuilding company. Genoa is situated on the vertex of the “industrial
triangle” where prestigious institutions such as the Italian
Navy’s Hydrographical Institute and a number of shipping companies
are based.

Genoa is close to the Naval Base and Shipyard of La Spezia as well as
to the largest Naval Air Station located in the North West of Italy (also
home to both the Naval Technical and Testing Centre (Mariperman) and
NATO Undersea Research Centre (NURC)), and is used to hosting international
maritime events (such as the International Boat Show).

The University of Genoa – with cultural roots in the ancient art of shipbuilding
and in the naval logistic chain - is now perfectly integrated in
the European District of Advanced Technologies, and currently (and in
future) integrated into the MAST series of events.

MAST, in combining “operational capabilities” with naval systems
and technologies, adds another link in Genoa’s long chain
between past and future. MAST 2007 will be, for sure, prolific of ideas
and an occasion for setting new cooperation.
Admiral Dino Nascetti - Director General, Naval Armaments, Italian Navy
