Social Robotics and HRI pioneer confirmed as plenary speaker for Education day at MAST Americas

MAST Americas will achieve another “first” by focusing the Conference’s second day on education and opening the event to the next generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and technicians by actively incorporating them into the conference.

Students from a District of Columbia School will be invited for the plenary session and to present some of their efforts (science fair projects for example) to MAST Americas participants where they will have an opportunity to discuss their efforts with many of the senior scientists attending the Conference.

The plenary speaker, Professor Cynthia Breazeal, is an Associate Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she founded and directs the Personal Robots Group (formerly the Robotic Life Group) at the Media Lab. She is a pioneer of Social Robotics and Human Robot Interaction (HRI).

The effort reflects NUWC’s −and the Navy’s− commitment to nurturing future leaders and members of a diverse workforce through innovative, energizing engagement with elementary, middle, and high school students.
